Children’s Auditions

Ages 5–10

Time: 8:45 AM Registration, 9:30 AM Audition Begins
Students are released by Remind when finished.

Auditions are open to dancers ages 5 through 10. Auditioning dancers should come dressed for dance class (tights, leotard, ballet shoes and girl’s hair pulled back in a ballet bun). Ages 8-10 must have a minimum of one ballet class per week.

All registrations will be completed online, including those registering on the day of auditions. Parents will be asked to check in their dancer and pick up their dancer upon completion of the audition. Parents are not permitted in the audition room. Instructions will be given to sign up for “REMIND” which is how we will notify parents that their child is ready to be picked up.

Medical History Form and Medical Release Waiver must be printed, filled out, and brought to auditions. If you do not have these completed, your dancer will not be able to audition.

Makeup will be provided for children’s roles.

Apprentice Auditions

Ages 11 & Up

Time: 11:30 AM Registration, 12:00 – 1:30 PM Audition

This includes Returning Apprentice dancers AND any dancers 11 and up wishing to audition for the Nutcracker. Dancers who are on pointe should be prepared for pointe work during the audition.

Dancers from this group may be invited to attend Company Auditions at the panel’s discretion

Medical History Form and Medical Release Waiver must be printed, filled out, and brought to auditions. If you do not have these completed, your dancer will not be able to audition.

Makeup will NOT be provided for apprentice and company roles.

Company Auditions

Time: 2:00 PM Registration, 2:30 – 4:00 PM Audition

These auditions are for returning company members and any dancers issued an invitation during the Apprentice Audition

This includes a $20 non-refundable audition fee, costume restoration, insurance, administrative costs, make-up kits and the cast party gift. The MVPA board decided it was beneficial to collect the fee online in one sum to alleviate multiple deadlines of fees. If your child does not receive a role, you will be refunded $100 of the production fee.

(Please note: There is a maximum annual fee of $300 for a family of 3 or more participating in the Nutcracker) If this applies to you and your family, please contact MVPA Board of Directors with any questions at 315-738-7646.

All non-company members will be provided all necessary hair and makeup kits labeled for each individual child and will be at the Stanley Theater for performance week.

For new participants, examples of non-company dancers includes: cherubs, mice, rats, soldiers, cadets, rosebuds, party boys, snowflakes, bon bons, etc.
